Dailuaine

In 1889 Dailuaine became the very first distillery in Scotland to be fitted with a “pagoda” roof, designed by Charles Doig. At the end of the 19th century, Dailuaine was the largest single malt distillery in Speyside and also one of the most innovative in terms of design.

In 1917, a fire rips through the distillery, destroying the pagoda roof forcing it to close and it was re-opened again in 1920. In 1953, a second fire rages through the distillery and was re-opened in 1960
