Abelour distillery was the brainchild of James Fleming who built the distillery in 1879. James was a prominent and respected member of the local community and was instrumental in building Aberlour’s first public meeting place, The Fleming Hall in 1889.
Like many Victorian distilleries, it burnt down and, in 1898, had to be rebuilt. Aberlour’s takeover by Pernod Ricard in 1974 has given it a strong following in France. The distillery has won various awards internationally for its different expressions.
