Balblair

Nestled atop a remote and reclusive hilltop, Balblair houses one of the oldest archives in distilling today. The first ledger entry – penned by founder John Ross himself – is dated 25th January, 1800. It reads, “Sale to David Kirkcaldy at Ardmore, one gallon of whisky at £1.8.

The Balblair malts are a series of proud Highland spirits, each crafted with patience and diligence by a team of veteran craftspeople. Locally sourced water from the Ault Dearg and Black Isle barley comes together in unique squat neck pot stills to perfectly shape the distinctly natural flavours. Its exceptionally long 62-hour fermentation and the 4 and half hours of extremely slow distillation is essential for a perfectly light, yet complex malt.

Known for their whiskies released by vintage, since April 2019 Balblair started a core range of age statement single malts – including but not limited to a 12, 15, 18, and 25 Year Old. The latter two have been awarded honourable Double Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021.
