One of the oldest operating distilleries in Scotland, Glen Garioch (pronounced Geery in the ancient Doric dialect still spoken in these parts) was officially launched in 1797, there are claims (still to be substantiated) of it producing legally at an even earlier date, a claim which if proved true would make it as the oldest distillery in Scotland.
The distillery used to produce heavily peated malt until 1995 with its Vintage 1995 expression being the last Glen Garioch to be made with smoked barley. In 2009, the distillery is given a new look that befits a small 200-year-old Highland distillery, passionate about crafting its exceptional Single Malts.
