Tullibardine

Tullibardine’s history dates back to the 15th century, when it was just a local brewery in the village of Blackford, right at the gateway to the highlands. The story begins in 1488, when King James IV of Scotland stopped by before his coronation to purchase beer from the local brewery. This brewery was known for producing fine beer as a result of the local water source. By 1503, the King had granted them a Royal Charter.

In 1947, the brewery’s scope in whisky distillation would become apparent, leading to its metamorphois into Tullibardine Distillery in just a couple of years. It would again be mothballed from 1994-2003 by then owners, Whyte & MacKay – and then sold to a consortium of investors who, in 2011, traded them to French wine & spirits group, Picard which owns Highland Queen and Muirhead Scotch whisky.

Their expert team curates only the finest of first fill casks from the best Bourbon distilleries, imparting maximum flavour and colour, ensuring the signature Tullibardine sovereign. The addition of a bottling plant also makes them of the few select distilleries in Scotland to distill, mature and bottle on-site itself.
