Overlapping the Cairngorms National Park, Royal Deeside is an area of fairytale castles, set amongst magnificent mountains and glens. The area owes its royal connections to Balmoral Castle, residence of the British Royal Family, which is situated in Deeside near Ballater. It is one of te few Scottish whisky distilleries to be established by a brewery.
Since opening in 2017, the distillery spent 18 months experimenting with its single malt spirit recipe. In 2019, the distillery produced 100 casks, of which 88 casks were sold to the public and the remaining 12 casks will be retained by the distillery and will be bottled once it reaches minimum 10 years of age. Deeside plans to move its plant and operations to its new premises, which will be named Burn o’ Bennie.
