“Deep Dive” with Godawan (Diageo India) – Dubai, U.A.E
Mastering the art of whisky and food pairing experience, Barrel Next hosted an evening featuring Godawan and Birkentree Highland Birchwater.
Inspired by the state of Rajasthan, India, Diageo has introduced the world to a new artisanal single malt whisky by the name of Godawan. It is named after the great Indian bustard bird, a once abundant species, today only seen in Rajasthan and almost nearing extinction. In the spirit of protection, every single bottle will contribute towards the conservation of the bird.
The malt within each bottle is made completely in Rajasthan from start to finish—sourcing six-row barley grains, maturing them at more than 100° F and creating a rich and complex flavour palette. The climate also adds to a higher-than-average level of angel’s share, leading to an in-depth profile-finished off in a select range of casks and Indian botanicals.
Quite aptly titled the “Spirit of the Desert”, Godawan makes it evident that India is the next emerging destination for high-quality single malts and artisanal craft spirits.
