Glenturret

Located in the lower glen, overlooking the River Turret, the Glenturret Distillery sits at the heart of a picturesque and fertile area known as the Hosh.

Glenturret is the oldest working distillery in Scotland. The distillery was bought by Cointreau in 1981 and from there passed to Highland Distillers in 1990. It was taken over by The Edrington Group in 1999 and then became the home of “The Famous Grouse Experience”, which was nominated for an Interactive Entertainment Award at BAFTA in 2002.

In 2018, the distillery was sold to the French luxury goods business Lalique Group under a joint venture agreement with Swiss entrepreneur Hansjorg Wyss. Lalique’s chairman Silvio Denz owns the Bordeaux wine estates of Château Faugères and Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, and this is not his first venture into the world of whisky, as Lalique has a longstanding relationship with The Macallan, pairing its finest crystal glassware with the Speyside distillery’s oldest and most valuable single malt.

In 2020, Glenturrent launched a new range of single malts overseen by former Macallan colleagues Bob Dalgarno and Ken Grier. Grier was formerly creative director at The Macallan, and has a strategic consultancy role at Glenturret, while Dalgarno – The Macallan’s whisky maker – takes on the same role at Glenturret, bringing more than 30 years of experience to the position.

In 2021, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant opened its doors to public. This unique gastronomic experience restaurant is headed by Michelin Star Chef – Mark Donald and his team to highlight the exceptional Scottish produce sourced and foraged in the local terroir. Alongside an extensive fine wine list, a spectacular Whisky Bar will offer more than 250 whiskies.
