Knockdhu

In 1877, Scotland’s largest grain distillers (Cambus, Cameronbridge, Carsebridge, Glenochil, Kirkliston and Port Dundas) joined forces to form Distillers Company Limited (DCL) as a way of safeguarding their business against pot still distillers who at the time were switching between malt and grain depending on where the best profits were to be made.

In 1988, following the acquisition of Inver House, the first single malt bottling of Knockdhu single malt was released in 1990. This was called AnCnoc (gaelic name meaning “hill”), rather than the distillery name, which Inver House felt was too similar to the already established Knockando. anCnoc single malt whisky has won several awards internationally especially for its 12 year-old, 18 year-old, 24 year-old and Peatheart whiskies to name a few.
