Oban is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, producing a whisky that has been described as having a “West Highland” flavour that falls between the dry, smoky style of the Scottish islands and the lighter, sweeter malts of the Highlands. Records show that the distillery started the distillation process in 1794 but official records state this occured in 1799.
In 2012, Oban released its 32-year-old single malt whisky in just 6000 bottles (this is the oldest Oban released till date).
