Built in 1817, the distillery is one Diageo’s giant workhorses, producing malts for its range of blends like Johnnie Walker Red Label. There are no official bottlings of the malt. A 1992 10-year-old malt has been available in the “Flora and Fauna” series of Diageo.
In 2013, the current owner Diageo spend £50m on building a second distillery next to the old distillery with 16 stills, a further 6 still and 8 washbacks were installed in 2014.
