Maiden Whisky Tasting Experience in Bahrain
We recently hosted our inaugural whisky and food pairing experience in collaboration with The Domain Hotel & Spa set against the mesmerising backdrop of Bahrain. Featuring whisky from Scotland’s oldest working and award-winning distillery – The Glenturret. The distillery was recently awarded the “Distiller of the Year” at the Icons of Whisky Scotland 2022 awards. This accolade comes after the acquisition of the distillery by luxury crystal maker Lalique and Swiss entrepreneur Hansjörg Wyss from Edrington Group in 2019.
Some of the prominent personalities who attended the event were:
HMA HE Mr. Roderick Drummond – British Ambassador to Bahrain and his wife Mrs Yasmin Drummond
HE Miss Betsy Bennett Mathieson – President of This Is Bahrain
Lord Steven Hemphill – Founding Partner of HOIID
Mr. Nicholas C. Cooksey – CEO of Gulf Insider and Bahrain Confidential
Mr. Frank Norman Eikeland – Executive Chairman of The Domain Hotel & Spa
Mr. Anurag Bajaj – Founder and President of Strategic Hospitality Services
3 whiskies were offered along with food pairing:
2020 Triple Wood paired with Cheese Dip With Toasted French Baguette
2020 Peat Smoked paired with Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon
2020 12yo paired with US Tenderloin Steak
Owing to our affinity to experiment with the spirits, our guests also had the privilege of trying and tasting a rather rare 13-Year-Old Highland Park, exclusively bottled for the 10th year anniversary of Le Clos. This limited edition is bottled at cask strength of 59.1% volume, with only 644 bottles to have been ever produced. Pairing the Highland Park Le Clos edition with BirkenTree Birch Water was an endearing experiment, effortlessly revealing the many hidden layers of the malt.
